Donald J. Davis

Donald J. Davis, 90, of Mahopac, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 with his loving family by his side.  He was born in Bronx, NY on July 19, 1931, the son of Cyril and Helen (Kiernan) Davis.

Donald was the Director of Operations at SUNY Purchase since its inception, retiring at the age of 85.  As Director of Operations, he was in charge of buildings, maintenance and grounds at the college.  He was an avid reader in his spare time.

On September 29, 1956 he married Patricia Guerin who predeceased him on January 12, 2021.  He is survived by his children, Patricia Hogan (Jay), Jean Mulhern, Don (Terry), Gerry, Kevin (Laura) and Carol (Paul DeLeo); his 12 grandchildren, Meaghan, Caitlin, Shailin, Ailish, Taylor, Zach, Austin, Dani, Allie, Adrianna, Kevin and Samantha and his great grandchildren, Hugh (Trip) and Johanna.  In addition to his wife, Patricia and his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Ann Patricia, his brother, Gerald and son-in-law, Jon Mulhern.

Visiting will be held on Saturday, May 7 from 2-5 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home.  As Sunday, May 8 is Mother’s Day, no visitation is scheduled as he would want Mother’s Day to be spent with family.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 9 at 10 am at St. John the Evangelist Church in Mahopac.  Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
