I am so very sorry to hear of Eleanor's passing. Although I may not have been of major significance in her life, I would be remiss in not acknowledging such a dear woman. I had the honor of meeting Eleanor during my son's enrollment at Mahopac High School and often saw her daily. Never did a day pass that you were not greeted with her wonderful smile and a kind uplifting word. It takes a very special person to put their pains aside to allow another person to smile. Thank you for being that person for me and my family during a difficult time; it meant more than you will ever know. May you rest in peace in the loving arms of your Savior and God Bless and watch over your family.

When Ellie stopped over in January, she looked radiant and was full of energy--en route to the mall after visiting with us for an hour. We had a great talk. Ellie spoke of things I hadn't know about before--Ron's trains, one of the grandchildren's artistic gifts, the loss years earlier of Ellie's sister. We should do this again, she said, rising to her full height. And we wanted to, were just waiting until spring came in earnest. Mom (Alice) is overwhelmed with memories: Ellie coming over with lasagna when she had hip surgery twenty years before; Mom calling Ellie before work because the car wouldn't start and she'd be late, so Ellie would have to make the morning announcements--Ellie was unfazed. Ellie liked to say regarding any mistakes that were made at the school when she first temped there: "Just tell them the sub did it." Ellie, with that small ironic smile playing over her lips. I can see it now.Ron, Jill and Ronnie--we are so sorry for your loss. Ellie will remain always in our hearts.

Eleanor will be greatly missed, my children referred to her and Ron, as Aunt Eleanor and Uncle Ronny. She was always very cheer full, upbeat and happy. We will both greatly miss her.

When I served as a guidance counselor at MHS in the early 90's, Eleanor's desk sat just outside my office. As I was a new hire, Eleanor was immeasurably helpful in acclimating me to the ins and outs of the guidance office. With grace and humour she "counseled" me. Though others referred to her as Ellie, she will always remain Eleanor to me - a woman of stature and elegance, sensitive to the needs of others, kind, and a loving mother. Rest in peace, Eleanor.
