Gail Latasa of Shrub Oak, New York, formerly of Mahopac, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2022. She was 82. Gail was born on April 4, 1940, in White Plains, to Jack and Kathleen (O’Shea) Farren. She graduated from White Plains High School in 1957. She married Jimmy Latasa on January 31, 1960. Gail worked at AT&T before starting her family. In 1967, the family moved to Mahopac.
Gail dove into motherhood in the “country”. She learned to drive and quickly became a class mother, Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout den mother. She relished each role and made things great fun. Gail’s door was always open to family, friends, neighbors and stray animals that needed a home. She was a true support to others and cultivated lasting relationships within her community.
Later, Gail went back into the workforce. She was a salesperson at Rudolph’s. She became a Production Control Administrator at Universal Voltronics. And eventually became an eye technician, a job her personality was well suited for. Her patients adored her.
For all who knew and loved her, Gail will be remembered for her sage advice, generosity of spirit, Irish humor, and innate sense of style and fashion.
Gail is survived by daughters Kathi and Linda; son Marc and his wife Stephanie; grandson Ryan and his wife Amber; granddaughters Ava-Cassandra and Anya. She was predeceased by her husband Jimmy and her brothers Donald and Bobby.
A visitation and celebration of her life will be on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 from 5-8 PM at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home, Mahopac. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Metropolitan Maltese Rescue, P.O. Box 20721, New York, NY 10021 or [email protected]
Remember me with laughter that is how I will remember you all.
