George A. Melillo of Carmel, NY passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at the age of 84. He was born in Yonkers, NY on July 1, 1936, the son of Albert G. and Agnes R. (Meegan) Melillo.
George was a mechanic with Geis Motors in Mohegan Lake, NY before moving to Millsboro, DE in 2000. In October of 2020 he moved to Carmel to be closer to family.
George proudly served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of American Legion Post 28 in Millsboro and a member of AmVets in Longneck, DE.
George enjoyed boating and was a member of the Peekskill Yacht Club. He was a former member of the Mohegan Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Elaine Dagnone of Carmel; his son, Stephen and his wife, Gilda of Holmes, NY; his daughter, Dawn Baisley and her partner, Robert Beyer of Cold Spring; Elaine’s children, Maria Scarnati, Danielle Dagnone and Vincent Tallarico; his sister, Teri McCready and half sister, Carol Ann Garner; his grandchildren Toni Marie and Tiffany DiMaio, and Salvatore Baisley and his great grandchildren, Alissa, Anthony, Aliyah and Leeland. He was predeceased by his daughter, Donna Marie DiMaio.
Visiting will be held on Thursday, April 1 from 5-8 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home where a prayer service will take place at 5:45 pm. Private cremation services will follow.
