Taylor Carley left a message on April 11, 2021:
My sweet Popppop...a big, tough man to most, but own personal teddy bear. He always saw the best in me, and gave me every opportunity I needed to be a better person. When everyone else hit their rock bottom, he still saw something in me and pulled me out of a heroin addiction. He gave me the privilege of having two dads, a stronger bond than just a grandparent and grandchild. All of our inside jokes, the unspoken language we had, and calling him when I needed to cry...I will miss him more than anyone or anything. I will never be able to replicate the love we had for each other Poppop. You were my person, always will be. 143 sarge.
