Very sad to find on net that Johnny had passed away. We were second cousins, I have many fond memories of Johnny from our youth. It's funny that I have thought of him several times in the last few months rarely before that. I was sitting at home this evening when I got an urge to look him up in Google , found him playing some tunes subscribed to his site, then surprised and saddened to come across his obituary. Hadn't met him for many years now still the memories are there. My condolences to all his family and friends. Ni beigh a leithead ann aris. Ar deis Dé go raibh a anam dilís

We were away in Ireland when my Brother-In-Law, John McAuliffe departed us for the long journey home to heaven. We arrived home last night and this morning I am sitting here reading the beautiful posts from his family and wiping away the tears as I do so. John was a larger than life personality. The center of every party. A gifted story teller and musician. I swear, he could pick up a stick and a stone and make music come alive with them. Sometimes it would be hard to determine fact from fiction when you were listening to one of his stories but that is what made him the character he was. A proud Irish man from Kerry who never lost his true Irish essence. My heart goes out to my dear sister Margaret McAuliffe, who lost her best friend to Cancer last week. To Michelle & Eric and their children Rowan and Hanna, Ellen, Kathleen and her son Sion, Johnny & Nancy, Rosin...words cannot express how so, so sorry John & I are for your loss of this powerful presence in your life. To Rita & Bridie and their families, we are so sorry for the loss of your brother and to all the nieces and nephews for the loss of this fun loving uncle. Rest in peace dear will be sorely missed.
