I go back nearly 40 years with John and Eileen, as well as Goodrow Fuel and Service. Willis built my Dad a steam boiler for my Dad's business back in the 1950's. We have to this day three Weil-McLain Boilers installed by Goodrow Service and are delivered #2 heating oil by the now Goodrow Fuel ( billed, as always, with a "prompt pay discount#). There never was any wasted time dealing with John, because he was always no nonsense and direct. A life of service, both to his customers and to his community.

I was very saddened to hear of John's passing. I joined the Mahopac FD in 1990 and John was one of the first people who welcome me in to the firehouse. He along with many others showed me the ropes. I have a lot of special memories of him, from happy hours on Friday nights, all the parades and the annual fair, cooking in the kitchen for the golf outings just to name a few. He wasn't a bad fireman either. There are too many more memories to mention here. I will miss his sense of humor, and his famous euphemisms, most of which I can't mention here. John truly loved the Mahopac FD and throughout my 30 years as a member John was always there to lend a hand no matter what it was we were doing. I will miss him and I now look forward to the time when I will see him again. Rest In Peace my friend until we meet again, Daniel Donnelly T1 E2.
