Michael Salvatore, passed away on December 27, 2020. He’s predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Alice Salvatore and his son, Michael P. Salvatore.
Michael, 90, is lovingly remembered by his daughters Ann Donohue (Phillip) and Tara Ferretti (John), grand-children Michael (Christine), John Jr. (Rebecca), Michaella, Miranda, Peter and great grandchild, Liam. Michael is also survived by his sister, Genevieve DelGrosso.
Michael was born on November 24, 1930 to Anna and Pasquale Salvatore in Bronx, NY. He graduated from James Monroe High School in 1948. After graduating, he went on to have a successful 27-year career at Chemical Bank as VP, Real Estate Division.
In 1963, Michael became a father – his favorite job. He and his sweetheart, Alice, and their three children made a life for themselves in Yonkers, NY.
Retiring in 1989, Michael and Alice split their time between Copake, NY, and West Palm Beach, FL. Michael led the Young at Hearters Club as their President for decades, making many friends, cooking countless meals, and traveling to beautiful places along the way.
Michael encouraged his family to make the most out of life, to love the ones you’re with and most importantly — he taught them that everyone takes a turn at the wheel. His family knows he’ll have Sunday dinner and drinks at 5 waiting for all of them.
Visiting will be held on Wednesday, December 30th from 3-7pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, December 31st at 10am at St. John the Evangelist in Mahopac, NY, with burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, NY.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in his name The Alzheimer’s Association and The American Heart Association.
The family also plans to have a party celebrating Michael and Alice’s love and lives, instead of a reception in June of 2021. Details to follow.
