Peter Holowiak, Jr. of Mahopac died Tuesday, January 29th at the age of 82. He was born in Yonkers, NY on January 30, 1931 the son of Peter and Anna Holowiak.Peter proudly served in the US Marine Corps before marrying his loving wife Nellie on April 28, 1951. They were married for over 61 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, firearms, and archery. In addition to his family, he loved his dogs, to read about history (especially Native American), and visit his most favorite place, Niagara Falls.He is also survived by his son Peter(Anna) of Wingdale and their children Nicole, Pete F, Jennifer, and Stephen; his son Robert(Kim) of Kingston and their children Jaymes, Craig, and Ryan; his son David(Tammy) of Putnam Valley and their children David Michael and Michael Anthony; his daughter Diane Irving(Ralph) of Stormville and their son Kenneth Zimmons; his daughter Ann Marie Holowiak of Mahopac, and 2 great grandchildren, Alexzander and Nathaniel. He was pre-deceased by his daughter Deborah Panek(Scott) who passed in August 2002 as well as his 12 brothers and sisters.Visitation will be held at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home, 692 Rte 6, Mahopac, NY 10541 from 2-4 & 7-9PM on Thursday, 1/31. The funeral service will begin at 8 PM the night of the visitation.In Lieu of Flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Rosary Hill Home, 600 Linda Ave., Hawthorne, NY 10532.

Earth may have lost a loving man, but Heavan has gained one hell of an Angel!!! I have known you for over 40 years and even though I have moved away from Mahopac, it was nice to come back and see you and introduce my children to you. Ann & I were inseperable growing up. I think I slept at your house almost every Saturday night every summer growing up and we would watch WWF in the living room! I remember you taking us to the drive-in movie and I remember you letting me shoot your gun one 4th of July! i can still remember our 1st hunting trip i was 10, we went to the long gone rudy's place. we had no luck that weekend but it was a great starting point, havent stopped once in all theese years. then the 1st time you and my dad let me shoot was at pudding street and the safety cut my hand open and you just smiled and laughed and said welcome little sportsman. lets not forget our weekend trips to the flea markets, thrift shops and gun shows, you were a big part of who i've become. our vacations, 1 that realy sticks is/was when we went to ocean city maryland and you slammed my hand in car door, and when you kept napping on the chair and we put mustard on your cigar so when you woke up and grabed it from your mouth got your hand covered in mustard. i even remember being in 5th or 6th grade and doing a report about you in school. THANK YOU for everything over the years !!! you werer a GREAT man !! LOVE and MISS YA RIP LOVE lil Andy

More than a Dad, "MY HERO" in so many ways. A true warrior with more knowledge than most will ever have. A gentlemen with a kind heart and gentle sole. Loved to go hunting and be with family. A hardworker who always tried his best. He loved his chichuahua's they were always by his side. "The strongest man I will ever know." May you always know that you'll always be more than a memory, you will always be a part of me even though I can't see you, I'll look up to the the stars and I'll know your there watching over all of us from the heavens above, smiling down keeping us safe, wiping our tears, letting us know your OK and knowing that we will meet again.
