Valerie M. Nicholls

Valerie M. Nicholls of Brewster, NY passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022 with her loving family by her side, at age 71. She was born in the Bronx, NY on November 12, 1950, the daughter of John and Mary Segreti.

Valerie graduated Mercy College and earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education from the College of New Rochelle. She was a retired school teacher who taught a majority of her career at St. Mary the Assumption in Katonah, NY and St. John the Evangelist in Mahopac, NY.

She was married to Raymond Nicholls, who survives at home. In addition, she is survived by her daughters, Heather McCaughey and her husband Patrick, of Brewster, NY and Mary Nicholls Gambino and her husband, Antonino of Port Chester, NY; her beloved grandchildren, Liam and Molly McCaughey; her brothers, John Segreti and his wife, Maureen of Danbury, CT and Ronald Segreti of Somers, NY; her sister, JoAnn Borreggine and her husband, Jerry of Yorktown Heights, NY. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.

Valerie was devoted to her family, friends, and her faith. She enjoyed traveling the world, golfing, knitting, and gardening. She appreciated the arts, such as museums, plays, and concerts.

Visiting will be held on Friday, April 22 from 2-7 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 23 at 10 am at St. John the Evangelist Church in Mahopac, NY
